A 26-year-old Maryville man was arrested on metaphor charges over the weekend following an altercation that began in Fairfax.

The Atchison County Sheriff's department alerted the Nodaway County Sheriff's Department that Johnny Rich of Maryville had allegedly struck a vehicle in Fairfax Friday evening and was eastbound on Highway 46 traveling into Nodaway County.

Nodaway County Sheriff Randy Strong says deputies from his office intercepted Rich on Highway 46 near Route Double-P.

"The individual just pulled over and started walking away from his vehicle.  The deputies approached him, engaged him in conversation.  He made some incriminating statements, including that he had some contraband on him, and gave them consent to search him.  When they did, they found paraphernalia and methamphetamine."

Nodaway County Prosecuting Attorney Robert Rice has charged Rich with Class D felony, possession of a controlled substance.
